The course consists of four modules:

Module 1: A healthy company

Module 2: Health risk management

Module 3: Fitness for work

Module 4: Wellbeing

Each license is valid for 12 months from the point of purchase. You will have a period of 90 days to complete the course once enrolled. This includes all project and coursework. After this period you may be subject to a re-registration fee.

Study time is estimated at around six hours.

Each module is split into units, and on the home page a guide to how long they should take to complete is given. Obviously, people will vary in how long they take to complete each unit, so please note this is only a guide. In general, each unit ranges between 15 and 30 minutes in duration.

The course is assessed by an online assessment and a health risk assessment project (see below).

Yes, once you have completed all four modules, you need to take an online assessment which comprises of 20 questions – a mixture of true or false and multiple-choice.

The end of course assessment is automatically marked online. You will find out your score as soon as you have finished.

Yes, you need to complete a project based on a health risk assessment.  This needs to be completed within 14 days of successfully passing the online assessment.

The project is completed online via the project template. Full instructions will be given when you reach this part of the course.

Once you have submitted your project it will be marked by one of our tutors.

If you fail the exam you can do another set of questions. If you fail the project, one of the tutors will provide guidance as to where more detail is required. You can then redo that part of the project and submit it back to us. If you fail the project a second time, your course will be re-set and you will have to start again from the beginning.

You will be given full access to the IOSH Managing Occupational Health and Wellbeing eLearning course again until you have successfully passed, subject to the overall standard 90-day course duration.

This normally takes up to 12 weeks, as IOSH needs to validate that you have completed the course, passed the online assessment and passed the health risk assessment project.

IOSH will post your certificate to us; we will then check it and send it on to you or your employer, depending on the instructions we've been given.

One of the great things about this course is that you can save and download your workbook, to help with your final assessment and as a permanent record of the knowledge gained on your course. To download your workbook, access the print menu (usually through file > print). Then choose to print as PDF, which will give you an option to save your workbook in pdf format.

Learners have 90 days to complete the course as standard, including submission of any associated project work. After this time, access to your course will be locked. If you have not previously been granted an extension, you can submit a Discretionary Extension Request by completing an online request form. Requests are granted at our discretion, subject to our IOSH terms of product use (pdf). A standard re-registration fee will apply, as detailed in the request form.
